FBFF Question: What are the top 5 Spring trends that you are looking forward to seeing/sporting this season? (Can be anything from makeup, shoes, accessories, clothing, etc..)

Colored Pants/Color Blocking:

I don't know how the colored pants are going to work out for me and my thighs, but I'm determined to try it. I'm actually wearing a colorblock combo as I type, purple bandage skirt and orange top. Maybe I'll get off my lazy bum and take some pics, no promises.

High Waisted Shorts:
I hate when I'm not into a trend and see the items and let them pass by. These shorts were right at my fingertips, I just didn't know what I had until it sold out. I'm so in love with this high-waisted/paper bag trend, but I can't find them anywhere. Leave comments with hints if you've seen anything similar lurking around online.

Nudes/Neutrals:

I NEED, no, not want, NEED some nude pumps, they're just so sexy and classic. Nude clothing is also great for this season because it goes so well with those colorful items above.

Maxi Dresses:

I just love the flowy, colorful look of this trend. Plus, maxi dresses add a little height, as a 5'4" diva, I'll take whatever I can get.

Animal Print:

I'm ashamed to admit that, at one point or another, I thought animal print was a bit tacky (or more like too much). Oh the odd clutch and earring here and there was fine. But, now I'm throwing caution to the wind and I rocking animal print as much as I can.

Hint #1: Wal-Mart and Norma Kamali are doing big things with animal prints, I'm so excited for Wally World.

Wide Leg Pants:
During the warmer months I don't want anything sticking to my legs, and that includes jeans. With wide leg jeans I have the option of wearing denim without the sticky, stuck on feeling.

Myrtle Beach Part 3 (Night Life)

Hey Divas,

Not much to say, but here are some night life outfits from spring break.

All five us the first night out. Eventful night, which doesn't necessarily mean fun.

What's going on with my legs? lol.

"Don't be salty because you're not getting it in and going home with another chick at 2 in the morning." Some guy shouted this at a girl because he tried to hit on her and she wasn't having it. Classic Fox and the Grape story, lol.

This was the last night in Myrtle Beach, but also the best night of the entire trip. The Situation, of Jersey Shore, was the special guest and surprisingly he stayed pretty much the whole night. The cover was only $10 and we had access to three different clubs along the strip. It was nice to just see him and then have the opportunity to head to another club next door that was less crowded. Though I have to admit that I didn't really care much for the Situation because I was too busy watching my soulmate. As soon as I walked into the club I saw this guy dancing on a crowded elevated stage. He was at the front of the crowd, by himself, in sunglasses, in the dark. At first I thought "Who the hell does he think he is, he's not even that hot." Within five minutes I couldn't take my eyes off of him. By the time The Situation came out, I was too involved in watching the guy to pay much attention to him. Needless to say, by the time I got up the nerve to approach him (an hour later, after I went to another club and came back) and headed to the stage, he was gone.

Myrtle Beach Part 2

At some point during the trip we did some drinking. Oh who am I kidding, we drank EVERYDAY. But we also ate a lot, during this trip we wanted to eat at local restaurants and leave the chain restaurants back at home. We had some good food, including a tai restaurant, and also Italian restaurant which is making me dread the idea of finally trying Olive Garden. The chicken spaghetti dish was soooo good, I wanted to run to the kitchen and steal all the sauce. We also did touristy things, as you will see from the pics below.

Nascar Racing of course. This is before I hit three people (including my BFF) and ran over a cone. I just HAD to win.

Stop Light. These were so good, and the place was absolutely amazing. Beautiful, colorful, and clean.

Myrtle Beach Part 1

Hey Divas,

It's been a while. Just a quick post featuring some pics from my spring break in Myrtle Beach. I went with 4 other girls-you can predict that it was a bit rocky at the start (5 girls in one space-not the best recipe in the world). But after two days, we got into the groove of things and it turned out to be a lot of fun. The trip made such a big impact that I'm throwing out my previous post graduation plans and creating new ones. More on that later. For now, enjoy the pics.

We went to the beach as soon as we got there. Unfortunately it was freezing.

The view I woke up to every morning (I could see this without moving from my bed).

Can we say movie star? That's my friend Fey, whose face isn't unfamiliar to you if you've been a FAAOM follower for a while. She, along with two others, are my loyal partners in crime. Apparently she's been peeking around the blog a bit, not sure how I feel about that.
Anywho, I think this was the second day, we went on the "boardwalk" (2 feet of wood shouldn't be called a boardwalk). We went to a bar called Marvin's and had some Blue Motorcycles, checked out a shirtless guy, and had some great cheesy fries.

We're such children, but sometimes you have to be. Plus, this was a lot of fun, that is until one of the staff members came and took them away from us because they were for the lazy river, not the pool. Unfortunately, I stopped having fun at that point, it's hard having fun when you can't swim (you would think, being a Jamaican, I would have already conquered that task).

What's a vacation without a little shopping? Unfortunately, these outlets sucked (yeah, I know, childish). I got some stuff from Rue 21 and Claires, so at least there's that.

At some point during all this, we tried to drink and relax (more drinking, less relaxing). Relaxing involved, laughing, dancing, watching Katt Williams and laughing some more.

Friday I took a break from life and went into DC with four of the girls. We met up with some other ladies at the bar after some parking issues (30 minutes of it). We got their to lame music and lame people. At least we didn't have to pay for cover and drinks were half off since one of the ladies won a prize though their email list.

First "Live" Haul Video

First video with me in action, and I think it turned out ok. Of course imovie cut it down and compressed so the resolution sucks, but it does what it needs to do. I made this video on Wednesday so it's a bit outdated as far as blog mentions.

3. I buy and think about my outfits in terms of the club (very sad I know)

OOTN: Senior Cotillion

Hey Divas,

Now that it's the last year of school I'm trying to get more involved and build a whole lot of memories. The senior cotillion my school organized was the perfect opportunity to build those memories, plus it gave me a reason to wear my fashion to figure dress that I've had in the back of my closet for almost a year.

They call it a cotillion, but we all know the truth. This was a less classy version of the high school prom. We had the usual awkward dancing; girl dancing in one corner, guys dancing in another corner, and the hated couples dancing on the dance floor. Thanks to the three alcohol stations it eventually turned into a sloppy, underwear showing, mess on the dance floor. See, less classy version of high school prom.

Like I said before, I wore my FTF silk, rose sleeved dress. It's a one strap dress but I sewed on another strap to give the girls a bit more support. I paired it with my Style & Co. red pumps that I bought from Macy's for $25 (originally $60). I finished it off with some silver jewelry and fishnet tights with a rose pattern on the side, which I got for $6 from Avenue over the weekend. My friend later commented that I should have had a red rose in my hair on the right side. My Niecy Nash moment is gone forever.

After the Cotillion, we stopped by a friend's house to change and then headed to the bars (sorry no pics of the bar outfit, someone was being lazy and I'm happy to say it wasn't me this time). Unfortunately everyone else had the same idea and it was crowded more than usual.

I make interesting faces when I dance, it's quite embarrassing.

OOTD: Let's Just Clash

Hey Divas,

How long has it been? Like 3 weeks? Ridiculous. I've been sooooo busy, my day consist of waking up at 6 for classes, getting in at 7, going to my internship at some point during the week, studying, blah blah blah. I feel like I'm on this moving train that's going like 200 mph with my eyes closed. Everything is moving fast and some how I'm just being dragged along for the ride. So now that I'm over with the complaints and the excuses, here's what I wore yesterday. I haven't worn a skirt in a while and since it was nice out yesterday I jumped on the opportunity.

I actually wore most of this outfit last weekend to a club. This is an excellent example of how well a cardigan works in your closet for remixing. I wore this skirt high wasted with the red shirt tucked in, red heels, and a leather jacket. To make it appropriate for class and a lot less painful, I wore the skirt under the shirt, a cardigan and my avenue boots.

I've been looking for a cardigan in this color for such a long time and I finally found this on sale in target on Monday. I plan to wear it with a mustard yellow shirt (as soon as I find one), but I was inspired by one of my classmates last week who wore a similar colored cardigan with a red shirt underneath.

Reader Help: Church Wear

Last week one of my readers, Akeisha, commented that she was trying to redo her closet, and also that she was trying to find church looks that weren't too old. I decided I would create some outfits with church in mind to give her some ideas. These outfits are based on simplicity and modesty.

First up is this simple dress belt combo. I'm a big fan of the red and blue combo because I think the colors go so well together. If the red is a bit much, keep the belt and just substitute in black shoes. The great thing about this dress is that you can do a lot with it, you can wear it with a cardigan, a fitted blazer, change up the color of the accessories (yellow is also a great color with blue), etc.

This second look is my favorite and I'm determined to get this skirt from eShakti. I'm so in-love with the purple and yellow (even mustard yellow) combo. I think the colors together are gorgeous, and you can tone the look down a bit with a black cardigan and some black pumps.

The last look features an LBD because it's always a go to item. The LBD can be combined with so many different things to make a completely new outfit, and by using a shirt and a belt, you could even turn this dress into a skirt. For this look, I decided to go very very simple with just a red cardigan. The bronze shoes makes the outfit, and the reversible gold/white belt can be used to form a more fitted look. Try this outfit with gold or bronze accessories to play up the shoes.

Tip: I've found that places like eShakti and Avenue are the best place to find modern church wear for plus size women. As much as I love Fashion to Figure and Forever 21+, they might not be the best places to look. Also Fashion Bug and Lane Bryant are also good places to look.

I kind of wish I could rent vanessa for a week or more just so she could dress me and get me out of my comfort zone. I would set up a nice cozy spot in my closet for her to sleep and hang out and every morning I would stand has she flung clothes at me. There's no way that I wouldn't walk out that door with an awesome layered outfit and I would make the sidewalk my runway, and the cold, chill to the bones wind my own personal wind machine. I’m sure she would be totally up for this if she didn’t have a life and I wasn’t bordering on creeper status. So, alas, I’ll just have to stick to stalking her blog and taking pointers. I really think she should join Kendi’s 30 for 30 challenge because she would murder it (in a good way of course).

I discovered Vanessa's blog through Fatshion Chic, where her picture was featured, and I've been hooked ever since. I watched this awesome lady go from 50 followers to over 180 followers in a matter of weeks. I also saw the blog world buzzing about her on blog posts and through comments. Bloggers and fatshion addicts can't get enough of her. Her style is unique and beautiful, and her ability to layer and remix means you will never get bored.

What I love about this outfit is the fact that Vanessa made two prints, that would have normally clashed, work so wonderfully together. By adding the cardigan she's separating the two prints which allows them to work together. This is just one of many manipulations that is used to create the great outfits found on Vanessa's blog.

Clearly I'm in love with Vanessa's style. Her layering, color incorporation and addition of accessories makes an impeccable outfit each and every time. Please take a look at her blog, I promise, you will be hooked immediately.

OOTD: Let's Live in This Wonderland Forever

Every time I go out I get antsy because I think about all the ways life is forcing me to be a grown up. The spring semester starts on Monday and that's my last undergraduate semester. This means I have to start hunting for an apartment because I would hate to have to move to New York to live at home. It also means getting my shit together, taking the GREs, and applying to Grad school.

First thing on the menu for Monday is waking up at 6:30 for my 8:00 class--my day doesn't end until 6:15. Goodbye to curling my hair on Mondays and Wednesdays, hello to looking like a bum. I'm just hating this new semester period, and it hasn't even started yet. The only good thing I'm looking forward to is working in a Domestic Violence Shelter. Now that's something to be happy about.

There are stories to be told (well one story), but I'm so sick of ranting about fat hate I'm not going to go into it. Plus one bad crop is not enough to worry about. So I leave you ladies with some pictures from last night...

P.S. I feel like I should do a tour of my top drawer for this blog and facebook so people can know that I own more bras. It's just my luck that at some point during the night my bra starts showing (courtesy of sloppy bathroom adjustments), it is also my lucky that I always happen to be wearing my favorite yellow bra. PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: I do have other bras and I do wear them on a regular basis, lol.

P.P.S. The skirt was made by me. It was an impulsive thing on Monday. I've never made anything from scratch but I really wanted a cheetah print skirt. Unfortunately, they only had blue cheetah fabric in stock, but I'm actually liking the color for girls night out. I think I'll order the traditional cheetah color skirt from Wet Seal, but for now I'm really liking this skirt. If you ladies are interested I would be more than happy to post a DIY because I plan on making one for Bri with the left over fabric.

Friend Friday: Authenticity

1. Most readers and fellow fashion bloggers value authenticity in the  blogs they read. How would you describe blog/blogger authenticity?  

When I think of blog/blogger authenticity, I thinking of a bloggers voice (how and what they write about). I know a lot of bloggers don’t think followers read what they write, but that’s the best part of a blog for me. Simple looking at outfits is boring to me, I want to know the story behind it, and I just want to get to know the person behind the blog a little more. When a blogger have pulled me in effortlessly, that’s authenticity to me. Authenticity also comes from how you own your outfits. Of course I follow a lot of blogs with the same style, but those people wear that style comfortable and sell it really well.

2. When it comes to your blog how to you infuse it with that true/  authentic feeling?

Authenticity is something I struggle with, not because I want to be somebody else in the blog world, but because I tend to write too much. I try to write what I’m thinking, how I’m feeling, etc. but it gets a bit wordy and I don’t want to overload my readers so I cut things out and I just think authenticity suffers in that case. However, I do try to stay as authentic as possible, I always write to reflect the person I am and the things I would say in real life.

3. Have you stopped following a blog in the last three months? What  made you lose interest?  

I haven’t stopped following a blog, but I tend to feel out a blog before I follow in the first place to get an idea of what they have to offer. Usually I go through older posts and wait until I get about a week of new posts, by then I know if they’re follower worthy. There are a few blogs that I check out now and again but haven’t followed. The number 1 reason? They just don’t seem committed to blog, and that’s a part of authenticity. It annoys me when bloggers take followers for granted and it’s quite obvious in the way you blog.

4. We can't communicate effectively on our blogs, something we don't  live in real life... what are some ways you try to live an authentic  life?  

Authenticity is a big thing for me and I try to incorporate that in my real life as much as possible. I’m a very honest person (but I try not to be hurtful) and I don’t try to be anybody else. My unique personality draws people in immediately and they usually stick around (I know, I’m surprised too, lol), so there’s no reason to be somebody else. I find that once you’re honest and open, people will appreciate you and your opinion.

Oh, there's so many but I'll try to name the ones that immediately come to mind. Tip Top Tuesday: Because Shoes Doesn't Always Fit

Jewelry places lie to us. I’m so sick of seeing the tagline “Because jewelry always fit” or “Because shoes always fit”. This is to imply that clothes might not always fit and can become disappointing, but jewelry/shoes will never disappoint you. NOT TRUE. I can’t ever walk into Forever 21 and pick up a bangle and go. The only bracelets I can fit are the stretch ones, and even then the bracelet stretch so much it doesn’t look cute on my wrist and not to mention, it cuts off my circulation. Similarly, rings are also a bust. I’ve never found a ring in Forever 21 that could fit my ring finger, so 90% of my rings are pinky sized, and this also true for a lot of other stores. Don’t even get me started on shoes. I can’t just walk into Aldo and Bakers, find something I love, get my size and walk out with a shopping bag. Not only am I a size 10, size 9 on a good day, I also have my dad’s feet, which means those things are wide. So no, jewelry and shoes doesn’t always fit.

Thankfully, some companies have realized this and try to provide us with other alternatives. These are mainly plus size stores of course, who realize that if we wear plus size clothes then it’s likely that the rest of our body is "plus size", duh. Anywho, these companies offer wide width shoes, larger bangles/bracelets, and go up to a size 11 ring. Torrid is my favorite place for wide width shoes because they offer very stylish shoes and have a variety of styles, from boots to pumps to flats. So here is my tip, check out the stores below and ditch the pinky ring, the tight shoes and the stretch bracelets (until you're ready for the pinky ring and the stretch bracelet, of course).

I'm enjoying the whole task of recreating celebrity's outfit, so you might be getting a lot of them this week. Also, once I get around to taking pictures, you'll see a real live get the look edition. Anywho, since Lauren Conrad is such a huge style icon, I decided to try and recreate one of her outfits. Finding an outfit that anybody could wear in their daily lives was such an easy task with Lauren, which is why I love her style so much, it's not always red carpet glam, it's very much real.

Now I inverted the colors because this skirt from Forever 21 is an exact replica of Lauren's skirt, but they only had it in black (they should have the purple and red ones back up soon). Below are the accessories to complete the look, and of course the prices.

Above is Sarah of Sarah Jane R. Styling, my first blogger feature. Also above is the shirt that I’m seriously thinking about snatching from her closet and running as fast as I can back to Maryland. Looking at this outfit and many of her other outfits, if I had to use one word to describe Sarah, it would be colorful. Two words? Colorfully stylish. There’s not one outfit that she’s posted that I haven’t fell in love with.

What originally drew me to Sarah was her style of course, but after reading her posts I realize that this Diva had more to offer. She’s the mother of the cutest little girl; and nothing inspires me more than a mother who manages to take care of her child while going to school and tackling all of life’s daily trials and tribulations, and not to mention staying stylish and chic. Also, Sarah has a way of letting her readers in, and allowing them to know a bit more about the person behind the blog.

This is What Sarah had to say about her style: "As far as my style, it's pretty much based on how I feel at the moment. I get inspiration from other bloggers, magazines, a couple celebrities here and there, and just life in general. My favorite blogger ever has to be Karla Deras of Karla's Closet because she was the first fashion blog I found. I also love the style of Rihanna, Solange, Kim Kardashian, Keri Hilson, and Lauren Conrad."

If you happen to cross paths with her blog you can expect original poetry on her recent blog posts, which she plans on continuing. Music videos on pretty much all her outfit posts. A feature called Runway my way, where she takes a runway look and recreate it using items in her closet (example below). You’ll also find a diva that can work the hell out of a pair of shorts, heels, color, and accessories. You can also expect inspiration and maybe a little bit of leg envy (or is that just me? It’s hard being 5’ 5” lol).

The lovely Miss Ariana of Fatale Fashion awarded me the "Your Blog is Breathtaking" award and I can't send enough thanks her way. Ariana is someone that I greatly admire, her style is off the charts and she has one of those blogs that you just can't leave before hitting the follow button first. Once again, thanks chica, and thanks to all my lovely followers. And don't worry, I'll be showing my appreciation of you all as soon as I hit 50 followers, which is only four hits away. Love you guys.

1. What inspires you?

Fashion Wise: Anything and Everything. My style tend to be simple and clean, but I am inspired by so many other styles and those styles often come from other bloggers. However, I find myself taking inspiration from characters on TV (the belted blazer was from a Law and Order episode). Lately, though, I’ve been finding inspiration in jewelry. I’ll pick a ring or a bracelet that I really want to wear and just create my outfit around that item.

Life Wise: My friends, my family, people who are doing amazing things, note I said amazing. So often these people are individuals who got pregnant at a young age but is working hard and is taking care of their children and paying their bills or individuals that were written off but proving everyone wrong. I also find inspiration in myself, especially from my passion for psychology and helping people.

2. What is your favorite season and why?

It use to be winter to the shock of everyone that knows I’m from an Island. But now I’m loving Spring and Fall. I hate being bundled up because no one ever gets to see my outfits, lol. These two weathers don’t burn me to death but allow me to show off my style.

3. What are you most looking forward to this year?

I'm actually not looking forward to this year. This year my friends and I are all graduating, moving back to our respective states and going all over for graduate or medical school, tear. If I had to choose though, it would be finally applying to and getting into graduate or medical school so I can stop freaking out.

4. If you could write a book about anything, what would you write about?

Probably a romance book different from the average ones you see in your local bookstore. I’m a big fan of romance books, but I never see any with interracial couples. I normally date men outside of my race and it would be nice to read a romance book that I can relate to on that level.

5. What is your greatest passion?

I have four passions that are in no particularly order because I feel like they’re all on the same level: Family, friends, psychology and fashion. Too bad psychology is on that list, I could have named it the triple F’s--bad ass, I know.

6. If you could change one thing about your life or yourself what would it be and why?

I would probably try to be on my shit more and stop the whole procrastination business. It’s really killing my dreams right now. For example, I’ve decided to take a semester off because I’ve been procrastinating and haven’t taken the GRE’s or the MCATs (most likely the GREs at this point) yet.

7. Lastly, what is your favorite novel?

I don’t have one favorite novel because I’m such a big reader. The best part of summer breaks for me is knowing that I’ll be able to read tons of books without being interrupted by life. But my favorite authors are Gena Showalter and Cassandra Clare. I use to like Stephenie Meyer until the Twilight movies came out and I realized the movies suck, the books suck (thought I still love them), and Bella sucks.

Review: eShakti

Hey Divas,

A month ago eShakti contacted me and offered me the opportunity to review an item of my choice. Of course I was immediately excited because I've always wanted to try out eShakti, but tend to stay in my comfort zone. eShakti is an online retailer who offers clothing ranging from size 0 to 26W. But if their awesome size range wasn't enough to make you squeal, they also offer custom sizes and lengths for a small fee, if you so choose. Just check out their mission statement:

• To make every customer look her absolute best.

• Provide amazing styles and a wide variety of fabrics and color choices in all sizes from 0-26.

• Ensure the best possible fit and fall by providing all customers with the ability to personalize any item.

So on to what I picked. You guys might have noticed that I love going out with my friends. Nine out of ten times I'll wear a dress out, no matter how cold. So I've been wanting a long pea coat or jacket for a while. So I immediately knew what I was looking for when I got to the site.

So it was between these two babies. The first jacket was just gorgeous from the color to the ruffles, but I was captivated by the very fashionable turtle neck of the second one. In the end I ordered the second jacket because the color would go with any of my heels, I loved the neck and the ruffles on the front of the first would double my bust size.

And the cowl/turtle neck detail did not disappoint. I'm sooooo in love with this detail of the jacket.

Unfortunately, the jacket was made one size too big. Thank God for the belt that creates a cinch waist because I would be swimming in the jacket otherwise.

Now the size problem was averted, but I can't say the same with the sleeve length. When I tried the jacket on, my cardigan sleeve was longer than the jacket's sleeve, after a closer look, I realized that it was significantly shorter.

Though there are a couple of problems, I love wearing out at night with my dresses. It's very light weight so if the club doesn't have a coat check it's not hard to stick it in a corner.

Stats

Fit: 1) Sleeves are too short. 2) unlike most coats, it's not stiff and I can move in it

Color: Color is not true to the one displayed on the site, but that's always expected for picture form

Size: A little too big

Warmth: Like the site says, it is definitely medium warmth, it's not for the very cold weather, it's more for winter going into spring. But like I said, I love wearing it out at night.

Length: The length is perfect, just as it is described on the website, and it'll definitely work for what I had in mind when I ordered it.

Pros

-I love the color even though it doesn't match the color on the website

-Length of the belt

-Location of the belt loop that ensures a cinched waist

-Neck detail: My favorite part of the entire jacket

-I just love the look overall

-Too big

-Sleeves are too short

★★★☆☆ (3/5) Due to the length of the sleeve and the size of the jacket itself, the jacket lost two stars. But the neck detail, the color, the length, the cinch created by the belt gained it three stars. So would I order from them again? I do want to give them another chance, so I would try them again. I do love the jacket but it's clear they have some sizing issues that they need to take care of. I am all about giving second chances though, I even have my eyes on this one skirt that I think I just have to get my hands on.

Thanks to the very stylish and lovely Sarah Jane for awarding me with the Stylish blogger Award. I was so surprised when I read her comment and found out that she thought I was stylish enough to be given award. I love this blogger's style and I'm so happy and surprised that she appreciates mine as well. So 7 things about me.

1. I Love Justin Timberlake, have loved him ever since I saw him on Disney sticking his tongue out in 2000. But Jared Leto might be taking his spot soon after the song Hurricane by 30 Seconds to Mars. I guess you could say we're getting a divorce after 11 years.

2.I love listening to friends and giving them advice. I could spend hours just listening to friends rant and rave. They always apologize for talking my ears off, but I love it. I want to be a psychiatrist and I just love helping people, just knowing that I can be there for friends whenever they have a problem makes me happy.

3. I'm a certified lingerie stylist/shopper. Okay, so I certified myself, but can we just focus on the important stuff. Anyway, I am obsessed with Lingerie, but I can't spend money on something that I'm not using. So I've focused on my friends, as a lingerie stylist I have 4 stores that I hit up with my clients to help them pick out lingerie that fit their needs. I also help by getting them to try on things they might not like on the rack. finally, I give them advice on their choices, etc. etc. I've had 6 clients (okay friends) so far, so I'm pretty much a professional.

4. I'm from Jamaica. That's it, sorry, nothing interesting to say about being Jamaican.

5. When I can't fall asleep in my very dark room I think about a scary movie and think that the person is in my closet or under my bed. This effectively gets me to close my eyes and fall asleep, because clearly the monster in the closet can't get me if I'm asleep (eye roll).

6. I always need to walk on the right hand side of people.

7. I can't think of a seventh thing, so it would be nice if you all told me one thing about yourself. What? I want to be a psychiatrist, I'm nosey.

OOTD: Head, SHOULDERS, Knees and Toes

Hey Divas,

I'm currently obsessed with shoulder details, which means H&M is my favorite store right now. But my latest conquest, surprisingly, is from Avenue. I've never bought clothes from Avenue before, just boots, but I'm loving this sweater Tunic. I love the way they took something simple and something I hate (gray sweaters are the devil, lol, just kidding) and dressed it up with some shoulder detail.

I bought this top two sizes too big because I wanted to have that big, off of the shoulder look. Unfortunately, the neck of the shirt wasn't big enough to do an off the shoulder look, and I didn't want to cut off the lovely shirt detail, so I turned to my trusty sewing machine and made it smaller.

Confession: I have this pic where my head is actually in the picture, but I love this pic, I have no idea why. But I'll make up for it by giving you another picture of my lovely face, lol.

Hey Divas,

I've come to the realization that we often make the mistake of categorizing our clothes. We have that one top that's only for work, or that one skirt that we only wear to a lunch date. I find myself doing this all the time, which means that I'm reducing my closet significantly. If I can make each item work for at least two or three different occasions, I've managed to double/triple my closet size.

I never really see jeans as a club/bar piece, and tend to use it for day time wear. It works triple duty for class, a shopping trip, and lunch with the girls. However, you don't have to freeze your little legs off in those dresses and skirts to enjoy the night life. By adding some glam pieces to your jeans you can easily go from grocery shopping to dance floor hopping. By cropping your jeans, switching out your flats for some pumps, your tee for a feminine shirt, and your cardigan to a leather jacket, you can accomplish such a look. Finish off the look with some statement jewelry to add extra glam.

OOTD: Ladies Night

Hi Divas,

I sit here right now, writing with numb toes. Granted two of my toes have been numb for about a month (should probably look into that). But now pretty much all of them are numb from lack of circulation of course. Just check out the picture below, and you'll understand why there weren't any circulation going on down there.

I've worn these shoes before, in fact, besides the different dress and the earrings, this outfit is very similar to the one here. For some reason they didn't hurt then, but they decided to put a working on my feet last night. Didn't help that we went out to a club that involved a lot of dancing and standing.

I can't complain too much though, besides the shoe, the rest of the night was good. It was four of us, so we opted to drive to DC instead of taking the metro, which was cheaper and more convenient. When we arrived at the club it wasn't open (weird). Luckily there was a restaurant next to it, called Pasara, that I've been wanting to try so we went in mostly to warm up, but also got some food (drinking on an empty stomach is a no no).

The food was sooooo delicious and the decor was dark, but very inviting. We all ordered and shared each dish with each other. Most fun I've had at a restaurant in a while.

Eventually the club was open and we entered with no cover, I'm a fan of free things so my night only got better.

I don't know what it was about last night, maybe it was the hair, maybe it was the red heels (I hear men can't resist red heels). But there was a point during the night that I was sitting and four guys came up to me, one after the other. One even put on a little show for me, it was very embarrassing, to say the least. Now I'm not saying that I need men to validate me, trust me, I have a huge ego, it's so huge it gets annoying at times (for other people anyway, lol). However, I don't think anyone can say they don't feel good when you go out and people appreciate how you look. It doesn't even take a guy asking me to dance, I love when people come up to me just to let me know that they like my outfit. That's why I make sure I compliment people, even strangers, when I like what I see.

All in all, it was a very nice night filled with lots of dancing, flirting, laughing and craziness courtesy of Bacardi Razz and Vodka.

Oh, I forgot, on our way back we stopped at a red light (one of many). The light turned green and the truck in front of us was taking a while to move so my friend beeped at him. The taxi next to us (in the OTHER lane) starts driving directly beside us and starts beeping obnoxiously over and over. The passengers then stick out their middle finger at us, then one proceeds to stick out his ass out the window and pulls down his pants and presents his very pale ass to us. Ignorant, I wish I'd gotten the cab number to report the driver.

Hey Divas,

As you guys might have already known, I'm currently on winter break. However, I hate the feeling of being in my room, laying in bed all day (for the most part), just wasting my life away, so I decided to take a winter class. Okay, the truth is I need this class to fill a requirement and wouldn't be able to get it done by graduation otherwise. But the previous three reasons still stands. Anyway, all that listening to the professor going on and on for over 3 hours for 4 days can wear a girl out, so I called up 2 of my girls and dragged them to the mall to celebrate the ending of a school week (yeah, we celebrate for any and everything around here).

Unfortunately, little Miss Smarty Pants (aka me) chose a mall with no plus size stores (except for Ashley Stewart which I never buy from). So I focused on the one thing that always fit, for the most part-Accessories. I was specifically on the hunt for this bag from Charlotte Russe. I saw it on their site two days ago and just had to get it. Unfortunately it's much smaller in person, but I still bought it because it was so cute. keep in mind that it's less orangey and more peachy.

Over christmas I received a huge makeup kit and suddenly went from bare necessities to an overflowing top drawer in the bathroom. In hopes of finding the same makeup bag that I bought for my cousin, I headed to Forever 21, of course they didn't have it. I did find this cute little quilted bag though. Later I stopped by target and found this makeup bag set for only $7, I just had to get it. Good thing too, because everything didn't fit in just one bag.

30 For 30 Challenge: Playing Catch Up...Again!

So I've been finished with the 30 for 30 challenge ages ago but I'm still missing tons of pictures. I had some time on my hands so I took a few pics today (remember that my cousin deleted all my pics from my camera).

Before I get into my outfits, let's discuss my camera. You guys, I want to throw the stupid ish across the room. A person taking a picture, no problem. Using the timer-awful pictures, awful awful pictures. So ladies, any ideas? I don't have the money to invest in a new camera at this time, and I love my pretty pink camera. It's a Sony DSC-T90, so any suggestions would be great.

I can't remember when I wore these outfits. But the first outfit was for class, the last two I wore to work. And yes, I did wear these outfits without tights, I just can't seem to get the whole tights and flats look right.

I have a confession to make, I have an addiction and it lives in my top drawer. I'm soooo obsessed with lingerie. I have animal print, pink, red, black, blue, polka dots, etc. I love lingerie so much I wore one for my first night of halloween...

Now I know a lot of women tend to shy away from lingerie, no matter their size. It's scary letting go of the shelter of their pajama. Don't get me wrong, I love me some pajamas, but admit it, very few pajamas get you feeling sexy. If you're worried about what your significant other might think of your body, hunny, he or she pretty much knows what you have, you'd be surprised the picture that a touch can create. If he or she is touching you, he or she knows pretty much what's going on with your body. So take a moment, get over your fear, and then come on back...

Okay, now that you're a sexy, confident chica, let's get back to the other problem. Where to find plus size lingerie. Well Marshalls and Ross is a good place to start. The lingerie I'm wearing above is from Wal-mart, which carries some nice lingerie for cheap. But, Hips and Curves is your friends. That place is lingerie heaven for plus size women. They understand plus size women and they understand sexy. And they have a nice variety, from sweet that keeps a lot to the imagination, to hot which bares all of what you have to offer. So go ahead girl, get like Justin and bring sexy back, your confidence will thank you.

Curvy Plus Shop of the Week-Avenue

As a plus size diva, I use to have a hard time finding trendy, plus size clothes. Now I have a few go to places, where I know I'll find cute, affordable clothes. I always fall into the habit of sticking to what I know, so I know a lot of you ladies do the same. As a result, I decided to introduce you ladies to a new (and some old) store every week that cater to plus size ladies so you can broaden your horizons.

Third installment of the Curvy Plus Shop is Avenue. A newly discovered treasure that's been a Godsend. I bought my first slouchy heeled boots from Avenue a couple months ago. Their boot collection is amazing, and their sales and coupons are to die for. Like their logo says, they go from a size 14-32 in apparel. They also offer shoes and accessories and have a very nice selection.

I actually just picked up the tunic from the front office, I'm so in love.

Pros

1. Offer Wide Width Shoes

2. Prices, including sale and coupons, are on point

Cons

1. Great customer service online but they definitely need to get better associates in their stores. Two stores, and both times I had bad experiences.

New Look

Hey Divas,

From my previous post you might have noticed that the bangs are gone. I got my hair done while I was in New York, asked my hair dresser for a side bang, and she just gave me a side part. Oh well, next time I'll bring a pic. I love how it looks on me though, except it takes me an hour to curl it every time I have to go out.

I did some editing to the pic, so the hair isn't clear, but you get the idea from the following pics.

This shirt was a x-mas gift from Jessica. I'm so in love with it because I have an obsession with shoulder details and H&M knows how to do shoulder details just right. Yep, that's right, this is from H&M, it's a large and it fits perfectly. I can't tell you how many times I have to convince plus size ladies that H&M can be your friend. The materials they use and the cut of most of their clothes can fit up to a 3X, maybe even 4X.

For New Years eve I drove five hours from New York to Maryland to celebrate with two of my girls. Though I was unable to drink since I'm ALWAYS the designated driver) and had to leave around 11:50.

I'm so behind on everything. I still need to finish up the posts for the 30 for 30 challenge. I need to retake the last few pictures because my cousin accidently erased all the pictures off my camera while I was home, smh. People who love to touch other people's things are a pain in my butt. Curvy Plus Shop of the Week-miSSphit

Hey Divas,

I've learned about miSSphit about two months ago through Big Beautyful Mess's fall essential posts. I fell in love with her wrap and clicked on the link to see have they had anymore in stock. Unfortunately, I never got around to buying it, but I think it's about time. miSSphit is known for selling items to stores like Fashion to Figure, but started their own online store in 2007. Like the previous Curvy Shop post, this business is owned by husband and wife.

Here are my top three pics after going through the items they had to offer.

Pros:

1. Reasonable pricing, but...

2. Trendy Plus size clothing

3. Goes up to a 3X, which is 22W-24W

Cons:

1. ...some items can be found on other sites (such as FTF) for cheaper

2. For a store who only caters to plus size women, they don't have a very big collection

3. Not a lot of variety, seem to only offer tops, outerwear, and dresses

Hey divas,

I suppose you're sick of the X-Mas post by now, but I just can't help it. Christmas is my favorite holiday and for some reason it always last an extra week in my head. Anyway, like I said before, I didn't take any pictures of our gift exchange at home, so most of the pics will be from my apartment gift exchange.

Of course you've seen this tree before, but you didn't get a peek with the gifts. We kinda go overboard obviously, this is not even all of them because we did a gift exchange with our friend Divya the night before this pic was taken.

This is the first gift exchange with Bri, Div, Me, and Sam (not pictured). If we were a bit more centered this would have been a perfect christmas card picture.

I still have to do a post about the stuff I received. But my favorite part of christmas is actually giving others gifts. I love when I get it just right and they go crazy over one item I bought them. So below, I present you with three of my favorite pics.

When I wrote Div this little message, I didn't know she was going to love it so much. But she seemed to have loved the message more than any of the gifts I gave her. I love when something I don't even think twice about, makes someone happy.

The second night of our gift exchange was with Fey-This girl is fashionable from head to toe. We both have a shopping addiction, and we often influence each other to spend loads of money, but for some reason we love going on shopping trips together. On one such trips, she spied the Mulberry for Target bag and went crazy over it. She didn't end up getting it because we were "budgeting". I completed stunned her when she opened the gift bag and saw the bag. I'm talking tears people.

My favorite face of the night, though, was Bri's. I have sewing machine and I recently took it from my closet at home and brought it to my apartment, and it was not a good move for Bri's dad. Every time we would go to Joanne Fabrics Bri would curse her dad's name because he didn't get her a machine when she was 9. While shopping for her, I knew I had to get her one surprise gift, not on her list. Out of the blue, I thought to buy her a sewing machine. I was expecting surprise and happiness, but definitely not what you see above. I've managed to get this look only one other time, Freshman year...

Hi Ladies,

Merry Christmas, I know it's a bit late, but I was so busy with the family yesterday that I wasn't able to get away to wish YOU all a wonderful family time. I'm currently in New York spending time with my fam. My mom just walked in the middle of typing this post and talk about santa clause. She told everyone she wasn't buying any gifts for christmas and transfered some money into my account (can we say shopping!). Of course like a true diva who likes to steal the spotlight, she walked in bearing tons of gifts. Unfortunately we didn't have a tree this year and I also failed to take pics yesterday. However I do have pics from my apartment gift exchange that went down on the 18th. I'll just post pics of my outfit, but I'll post more pics from that night later.

I technically have three housemates, but the third roommate is a new addition and she pretty much keeps to herself. We've been exchanging gifts for four years now since I've been rooming with Sam since freshman year.

I love this outfit because it's so festive. It was very unintentional, I had my last final that day and had nothing to wear (finals week=no clean laundry). My friend actually saw this shirt in Fashion Bug about three weeks ago and thought of me. She didn't get it that day, but went back the next day and bought it for me.

And just to give an action pic, and one of my favorite pics. This was taken by Sam's camera (she has a Canon, one of those big ones) which I need to have in my life. I'm sad that I discovered this the week before christmas because I would have definitely asked for one from my mom.

30 For 30 Challenge: A Christmas Story #22

Hey Divas,

Another 30 by 30 outfit. This is the second day of the tree decoration. While we were adding the lights we realized we needed more so we headed off to target.

For some reason my roommate thought it would be perfect to take a picture while I was fixing my hair.

Catching her in the act and she snaps another one.

I chewed her out, complaining about how she always make my face look awful in pics.

I then striked a pose and we headed off to target.

After we got back she started taking more pics, but before she took one of me she gave me our school newspaper. She figured since I always hate my face in pics I should cover it up, lol. The funny thing is I actually like this pic.

One Item, Two Outfits: The Pencil Skirt

I talked about doing a new themed post a while back and I finally have time to do it.

This post is called One Item, Two Outfits because I've come to the realization that we often make the mistake of categorizing our clothes. We have that one top that's only for work, or that one skirt that we only wear to a lunch date. I find myself doing this all the time, which means that I'm reducing my closet significantly. If I can make each item work for at least two or three different occasions, I've managed to double/triple my closet size.

I believe a pencil skirt is a staple in any woman's closet, and I've always seen it as a versatile item. But I've noticed that that's not the case for a lot of women. So I wanted it to be the star of the first installment of One Item, Two Outfits.

I've laid out two outfits which cover both work and play, using one important piece. Now, I'm sure you've noticed that the top is working double duty as well. I think this is great because you can go straight to the bar after work if you have a car or even a big purse to keep your accessories in. After work just tuck the shirt in your skirt, pull up your skirt a bit (high waisted) and slap a belt on. Get out of the very stylish, but work appropriate, pumps and glam it up a bit with some gold heels. Get rid of the dainty pearls and try some gold jewelry to go with your gold heels and you have a perfect outfit for the bar.

When I was looking for pieces and thinking about the outfits I wanted to create, I searched for looks to make you see it on a person. Imagination is good, but it works just as nicely to see the outfit come to life. I stumbled upon the blog Peregrinations and she has two outfits that bring to life my vision (boardroom and bar). Though she isn't plus sized, I think it shows the look I was going for.

TipTop Tuesday: Skip the Black and Light Up Your Life

I was reading a post on Plus Size USA titled Plus Size Fashion Advice and advice number one stated,

Dress from head to toe in one tone - clothes which are a dark color like black, dark navy or dark red to aubergine gives the illusion of a slimmer figure because dark colors absorb light. Don't wear shiny material in dark colors.

And then advice number six was,

If you like bright colors save them for belts [only wear if you have a waist], handbags [big], shoes, hats, lipstick and nail varnish. Sparkly jewelry [but not too big] helps here too - it takes the immediate focus of the person who you meet away from your extra pounds

My first question: Is there people running around without a waist? Like, how is that even possible? Anyway, I digress; the point of this post is to encourage you to wear color, if you are so inclined. Forget about all those rules, rules like the above. If you like black, then fine. But if you like wearing pink, orange, yellow, etc. then go right ahead. The whole all-black thing comes from the idea that it’s very slimming. I’ve never been able to prove that, and it might be true, but who cares? I don’t want to walk around in black and navy all day, every day. I love color, especially pink, and if that means that I’ll look fatter in some color, then so be it. And you know what, I’ve seen so many bloggers, and so many plus size ladies on the street that wears color and look gorgeous, sexy, and stylish. So forget about all black nonsense, skip the little black dress and try that new little red dress. It’ll look better at that Christmas party anyway.

30 For 30 Challenge: Mmmmm, Artichoke Dip, #21

Hey Divas,

I'm back with some 30 for 30, the first couple will be single outfits, others will be combined with two or three outfits just to wrap it up.

First up is the outfit I wore to my friend's 21st birthday dinner a while back.

I wore my Forever 21+ shirt/tunic, which was long enough that I didn't have to wear pants. I was going to wear leggings, but that felt like cheating since it wasn't really an accessory. Tights are accessories though, so I wore two tights just in case one wasn't opaque enough. Lol, I know, cheeky. I'm also wearing a headband that is not clear in this picture since the lighting was so dark.

We went to Apple Bees, not my favorite place, but their artichoke dip is off the hook. It was almost gone before I even got an opportunity to take a picture.

After my roommate and I got home we decided to set up the tree since we've been putting it off.

We tried to get into the christmas spirit with the music and we also made hot chocolate. Unfortunately we got the bright idea to spike it with Bacardi, NASTIEST. THING. EVER. Do not try it at home, trust. To top that off, my roommate got into a pissy mood and just decided she didn't want to do it anymore.

I'm Back!!!!

Up first is a store that I recently discovered, today actually. The store is called Shop Ruche and they carry items very similar to Modcloth and Anthropologie. The difference? They go up to a 3X. The store is owned by husband and wife and started right out of their home and from the reviews I've read, they're still very much hands on.

I've never bought from the store, but I went through and picked my top three items, two plus size items and a one size fits most item.

Pros:

1. Pricing is very reasonable

2. Clothing is very beautiful

3. Good amount of plus size clothing

Cons:

1. 3X is a size 18, so hopefully they'll extend their size

2. Plus size line is very new so they have a lot more to learn about the plus size customer

3. Not everything from the straight size section is offered to plus size customers

I Love Christmas!!!!

Sorry, but I forgot that I kinda wanted you to see how my apartment is getting into the christmas spirit.

We ended up decorated the tree on two days thanks to people's passive aggressiveness.

So hard to take a decent pic of a lighted tree with a camera. Anywho, all we have on here are lights, a garland, and silver and red balls. Yeah, I know, lame, but we seem to be missing a lot of our other decorations. I think we're going to end up keeping it like this.

Minnie Hiatus-Stupid Finals

Hi Divas,

Just wanted you all to know that I'm going to be gone for the entire week, well until Friday. Finals officially start on Monday and I won't finish until Friday. I have four finals (3 that I need to spend night and day studying for) and a 10-page paper, so I'll be in the library with my venti Caramel Machiato, from starbucks, for hours. I can't wait for this to be over. I finish with the 30X30 challenge tomorrow and will come back with individual posts for three or four days and then do a final roundup. It sucks that I'll pretty much be in sweatpants because it would be nice to get back to the rest of my closet immediately.

Anyway, I'll miss you ladies and I'll try to check out blogs during small breaks.

Christmas Wishlist

Hey Divas,

My friends and I have been exchanging gifts since freshman year and though there are a few changes, this year is no different. The minimum seems to increase every year, I find myself spending way too much on my BFF (about $200). That, plus the fact that I have to buy gifts for four others and then go home and buy gifts for family members, are really making me hate my bank account right about now. The only thing that makes it better is the fact that I love these girls and I love finding the perfect gifts for them to show my appreciation, and of course the fact that I also receive gifts. This year my list is short, well my word document list. My Forever 21 list...not so much. My addiction to Forever 21 is becoming a real problem. There are times when I find that I am a walking model for their plus size line because on any given day I can have on 4 or more items from them. These are the things I want from F21, I know I won't get them all (why are they always out of stock?) but I can't wait for the few that I get.

Like I said, I asked for a couple of things besides forever 21 stuff, like books. But I'm most excited about this Guess Bag on my list (Update: This no longer exist online, story of my life). My Bff and roommate got me the Guess bag I desperately wanted for my birthday, maybe they'll do the same again.

Wow, was I blown away by his style. Living on campus, it gets to the point where you think jeans and a T-shirt are all men wear. Well Carl definitely does not live by that rule, his style is enough to make any girl swoon.

Tip Top Tuesday: Look at Your Clothing Differently

Hey Divas,

From my previous post you know that I spent all weekend helping one of my close friends celebrate her 21^st birthday. Her birthday was on Thursday, and unfortunately I had to work that day, so I couldn’t make her first birthday dinner. I was however, able to make it to the partying after. Unfortunately, we were meeting up right after I got off work, which meant I had to rush home and change. Now finding an outfit for the bar is a task for most girls, and I am no exception. I usually try on outfit after outfit until I find the perfect one. Thursday night I didn’t have that option, and I ended up having to wear most of my work clothes. But, something amazing happened; it actually looked really good. By simple changing my shirt and shoes, I turned a dull work outfit into a sexy bar getup.

We often fall into the trap of seeing certain items as just work garb, or just club wear. And I must admit, I’ve always lived by that rule and I kept living by that rule even for the 30 for 30 challenge. It wasn’t until I was looking through my OOTD (I often look through them for inspiration and ideas to improve an outfit) that I realized everything that I was wearing in the outfit has been worn to either class or work at least once, and they were only considered daytime outfits. I was actually able to take a top and skirt and turn it into something that wouldn’t look out of place at a party just by adding the right accesories.

So what I want you ladies to do is to look through your closet and see if there’s a shirt, a pair of jeans, a skirt, etc. that you only wear on certain occasions and I want you to think of other ways to wear it. Take that shirt that you normally wear to class and work it into your party outfit. Take that dress out of the work pile and try dressing it down for class.

Completing the 21 and Over Circle...Finally!!!!!!

You know, while picking out my 30 items for the 30 for 30 challenge, I was thinking about the events that I used my clothes for. Class, work, random outings with the chicas, and clubbing/partying. Now the class wear and the random wear are very similar and I can easily go from one to the other without having to change. The work wear was not really similar to my class wear, but with a few additions I could make it work. The club wear was a total different story, so I decided that that would not be included in my 30 items. I'm so happy that I made that decision because it would definitely not have worked out.

Went to the club with my BFF the Friday after thanksgiving. Drinks was expensive and didn't have that much fun.

About half of the girls, wish I had gotten a picture of all the chicas that came out to celebrate, it was a very fun night.

Birthday Lap Dance: I'm slowly starting to like the solo pic of me, but I wish I had some damn hips, lol. BTW, you've seen this yellow bra thing before (evidence), seems I'm very fond of this bra when I'm going out. Also, the dress was edited by me because I got it in a 3X and it was way too big, I definitely needed a 1X. The sizing for women clothes are so complicated. I've learned that when I buy Polyester, I should go 2 sizes down.

Hey Divas,

So on Thursday one of my friends turned 21 (Finally) so we've been celebrating since then. Thursday was fun, but Friday night was very interesting, and even more fun. Worst night of my life because my favorite shoes broke, ugh, but I had so much fun. So without further ado, I give you the timeline of my Friday night.

1. Took a shower

2. Got dressed

3. Curled my hair

4. Attempted to put on fake eyelashes

5. Made a drink

6. Attempted to put on fake eyelashes for 5 minutes

7. Asked my BFF to put on my fake eyelashes after she got home from work-Failed

8. Stood in front of the Birthday Girl’s building for 15 minutes

9. Some dude finally let us in

10. Knocked on her door and found that she was still in her robe

11. Gave her her gifts where she acted like a true diva

12. Got her to put on my fake eyelashes

13. Left after doing makeup and pregaming

14. Walked halfway to the bar and realized I left my camera at her place

15. Sent the four girls on their way and three of us walked back to get my camera

16. While crossing the street, AT A CROSSWALK, some guy, going average speed, sped up when he saw us and smiled as he drove pass (asshole)

17. Guy stopped us in the building to gush over our outfit and called us chic, then forced us to go back to a party that happened to be next door to her apartment

18. Got looked at weirdly by some girls so we left, got my camera and headed back to the bar

19. Fell halfway to the bar and broke my most comfortable wedges and lost my favorite lip gloss and in the process got laughed at by some people across the street

20. Headed back to my apartment to get new shoes while I cried about my broken ones

21. Finally got to the bar and met up with the others, then partied…partied… danced…danced…etc. for 2 hours

22. Stood in a line to get downstairs, a couple butt in front of me, I pushed in front of them and commented on how rude they were, some guy thinking I was talking about him, got offended and called me a big, fat, red, apple-I was wearing red

23. We sat down and then decided to leave after 10 minutes

24. Me, my BFF, and our roommate got mcdonalds before we went home

25. We ate

26. I typed this and then hopefully went to bed since it’s 3:58 in the AM

27. Didn’t actually close my laptop until 4:53

RIP-Of course I'll be taking it to the shoe repair place, so it'll be back to new in no time.

30 For 30 Challenge: Black Widow #20

Hey Divas,

Just a quick post of my outfit from today (Wednesday). This one also includes an headband. I bought this a while back and never wore it because that was toward the end of my headband phase (or what I thought was the end).

This headband really screamed black widow to me since it was veil-like, so I tried my hand at some dark makeup (I suck at doing makeup, btw)). I didn't like how it looked on me, I'm not sure if it was the dark look or the fact that I'm not used to makeup, but in either case, I decided to wash it off.

The only good thing about mirror picks is that it reminds me that the glass needs to be cleaned.

Ugh, I hate blurry pics.

I'm so in love with this headband I gave it to you twice ( Don't be fooled by the flash, the necklace is not yellow).

Details: the back of the vest is all lace with a tie. I received so many compliments on this ring, and a girl literally grabbed my hand and kept touching all over the ring while she told me how beautiful it was.

Hey Divas,

With Thanksgiving break, finals coming up, and just my suckiness at taking pictures, there are over 5 outfit posts missing. I decided to write down the items that I wore on the missing days so I can remember them by the time I get around to taking pics. Sorry for all the craziness going on.

Anywho, I wore this yesterday (Tuesday) to classes.

I first had this outfit on, but decided that the necklace was too much.

So I exchanged the necklace for a yellow scarf. I love the look of yellow and orange together, though they don't technically match, there's something about the two colors that convinces you that they look great together.

It's hard to see in the pics, but I'm wearing a big bow headband. My cousin is currently obsessed with headbands, and seeing her reminded me how much I love headbands. I have about 20 and that's after giving her about 10. The first thing my BFF said when I walked through the door was "Hi Blair (Blair from Gossip Girls)." I realized with the headband and the blazer, I definitely looked like a preppy school girl. I'm definitely a fan of the look.

Don't mind the hair moisturizer, I needed something to hold up the headband.

Tip Top Tuesday: Ways to Save as a Fashionista

As a fellow shopping addict, I understand the pain your bank account/pockets go through every month. I'm constantly online shopping, looking for things that I don't need and I usually take a day out of my busy week to go look around my favorite stores. My closet has everything I could need and I could go a year without wearing the same outfit twice (with a little tweeking and remixing). But yet, I am constantly shopping and ordering things online. It has become hard to keep my bank account at a acceptable amount and I find that the next paycheck coming up has already been spent. Since it's drawing near to my undergraduate career, I realized that I needed to get together. I needed to start saving and focusing on the future, instead of the here and now. However, I had to make sure I didn't go into withdrawal, I do have an addiction afterall. I've learned some ways to help my bank account, and I think, as fellow addicts, this will be of use to you.

1. Sell clothes you no longer wear or have never worn to have money for new clothes: Go through your closet and find items that haven't seen the light of day in a while. Things that you haven't worn and know you won't wear (be honest with yourself)-->One man's trash could be another man's treasure. There are different ways to sell your clothes...

A. Boutiques: There are boutiques that buy back certain used clothes, especially if they're vintage. You can search through yellow page and online for boutiques near you.

B. Sell on Ebay, Blogspot, Etsy (if it's vintage) or any other reselling websites.

C. Trade amongst friends or attend a local trading event.

D. Have a yard sale.

2. If you must buy, spend wisely and use your resources.

A. Thrift Stores are your friends. I'm a big fan of thrifting because the prices are amazing (blazer for $3.50) and you can find things that you wouldn't find in your average stores. If you look for Thrift stores, you will find them, They are everywhere.

B. Retail Me Not is another friend of yours. Always search for coupons before you hit that checkout button. I've gotten items priced at $58 for $7 because of coupons. If nothing else, at least you'll get free shipping.

3. If you don't need it, don't buy it: I know it's easier said than done. But when you get that urge to buy that blazer, stop and think if you have blazers and if the one in your shopping cart is any different from the ones you already own. Also, think about the things you can do with that $50-like a date with the sweetheart.

I realized I made a huge mistake. I wore this bolero completely forgetting about the challenge. Ugh, I was doing so well, I'll make sure this doesn't happen again. Everyone makes mistakes, right?

30 for 30 Challenge: Outfit 13 and Our Trip to New York

Hey Divas,

First, note that I've skipped outfit 12. I didn't get to take pics of the outfit Tuesday night because I was busy running around getting ready for the New York drive. I'll update with that outfit once I get home.

The trip was good, I had awesome company because my best friend from home was with me, plus I was dropping off in Jersey. Highlights of my trip: The different, random things we talked about during the drive; Two guys in a SUV drove next to us for 20 minutes trying to get our numbers until I decided to speed and lose them; slowing down to 40 mph in the left lane on I-95 because some idiot was tailgating me; finally getting to visit Re/Dress.

After dropping my friend off in Jersey, we went straight to Brooklyn and stopped at Re/Dress. We had to drive around for a while before we found any parking, a distance away from the store. I brought a box and a book-bag of clothes/shoes to sell. Unfortunately I was only able to sell, three heels, a couple of shirts, a jacket, and a pair of jeggings. I didn't get much back for anything, which was a disappointment, especially since one of the items were Jessica Simpson pumps. Oh well, I've had them for a while and have never worn them so I decided to go ahead and sell it. I got back $43 store credit and used for my BFF's clothes and she gave me back cash-that's called beating the system, lol.

Though the buy back prices left me feeling sad, the store was amazing. It was so hard to stick to my shopping restriction. I loved the vintage items they had in stock, and I loved that had both new and used items. The staff were all so amazing (except for the one who rang me up-I think she was having a bad day).

I love this dress, minus the sweatpants of course. But I think it would look so cute with a belt and some pumps or booties. Unfortunately, she wasn't a fan and didn't get it.

I saw this dress, while looking for dresses for her and had to try it. The color makes this dress perfect for Christmas parties, it's so festive. This is an H&M dress in size 14, it was a bit tight, as you can see from my breast area, which is a good thing because I would have been tempted. But this proves that the size on the tag does not matter, which I think all plus size women should know. (Sidenote: My tights aren't ripped, my toe color just wanted to peep through, I thought they were and freaked out for a while).

This was my driving outfit: Usually I have on sweats and flats when I'm driving to New York, just to be comfortable, but I decided to dress up because of the challenge.

Hey Divas,

I'll have the Tip Top Tuesday for you ladies tomorrow because I've been ridiculously busy. I'm heading to New York for Thanksgiving break tomorrow so I had to pack after work. I'll only be there until Sunday, but I have one big suitcase packed, along with office moving box, a crate full of shoes, a book bag, and two purses, one with my jewelry, textbooks, and miscellaneous stuff. As you can probably tell, I suck at packing. I pack way too many clothes and then I get there and the items don't work together. I also always seem to forget underwear.

Anywho, I'll be heading out around 8:30 with my BFF Jazmen, who always drives up to New York with me, and a friend that I'm dropping off in New Jersey. While in New York, I'm going to try to check out Re/Dress to sell some clothes that I no longer need. I'm also going to head to Manhattan and visit my favorite Forever 21 store and check out the Faith 21 section, too bad I won't be able to buy anything. I also want to check out TopShop because I just recently found out we had one in the US. I'll be blogging during those five days so I'll still be posting OOTD.

1. Gosh, did all the plus size stores get together and decide to torture me with awesome sales.

2. Window shopping is a killer and it's interfering with my friendship. I've been canceling shopping trips with my friends.

Hey Divas,

Is there anything better than the hot men of Ocean's Eleven? I've watched that movie a million times. But truthfully, this post has nothing to do with that movie, it just happen to have the number eleven. Sorry, the eleventh hour was already used by closet confections. I wore this today (Monday) to class and it had me feeling sexy and fierce, I love when an outfit gives me so much confidence that I walk with a pep in my step and smile at every guy that passes by.

This is the dress that I used for my second outfit in this post. I'm thinking about wearing it as a shirt with my black skirt next time. We'll see how it turns out.

Today I was watching a repeat episode of Gossip Girl and saw Serena (Blake Lively) in this gorgeous outfit. I'm not a fan of Blake (something about her being a slut in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and stealing everybody else's spotlight) but I loved her outfit from head to toe, so I decided to recreate the outfit using plus size pieces. I've been meaning to take pictures of my awful outfit so since I wore the striped dress today, it seemed like the perfect time. I think the flats is where I went wrong this outfit. Because the dress is long, wearing flats with tights make my legs seems shorter and makes me look stumpier. I also think it would look a lot better if I paired it with something other than the cardigan. Makes the outfit look too "flat" whatever that means.

Hey Divas,

Outfit 10 here. I've skipped 8 and 9 because I forgot to take pictures. I'll take pics tomorrow and post it along with outfit 11, whatever that will be. I wore my blazer from my previous post and the skirt that I used as a shirt. I loved the skirt with the blazer, but it looked a little too professionally (even though I was going to work) so I wore my boots to tone it a bit down. I love my coworkers because they always give me the best compliments, and this one got a lot of compliments. I'm actually loving this look a lot and wish I could wear it to class tomorrow, oh well.

DIY: Blazer

Hey Divas,

This week I've been busy sewing away, fixing some things I haven't been able to wear. So let's get to it...

I bought this blazer in June and I've only worn it once. It's big and bulky so I had to wear a belt, which I liked, but I didn't want to wear it like that all the time. So I first sewed the blazer to make it smaller.

1. I had to cut off the shoulder pads because they gave me man shoulders

2. This fabric kept folding out and poking its ugly head out, so I snipped that too.

3. I also cut the faux pocket off because they were just making the blazer bulky and they weren't of any use.

This is the inside of the sleeves, which were boring and couldn't be rolled up because it was too tight.

So what's a girl to do?

Remember the pocket and the peek-a-boo clothe?

They helped to make this-I extended half the sleeves with the peek-a-boo cloth, and sewed on the pockets underneath. Rolled it up to where the pin stripe (pockets) ended and there you have rolled sleeves.

The buttons were also boring so I added some gold buttons to spice it up.

**I'll try to add embellishments to the shoulders once I find some-Joanne Fabrics didn't have any**

Next Up:

Making this dress turn from wedding wear to clubby, sexy wear.

This is the lace dress by Asos. Fellow bloggers have done it wonderfully, but I just can't seem to get it right. I ordered a size too big and even with a belt and a fitted jacket, it still looks weird. So I'm working to make it tighter and shorter. I'm also hoping that these will be available after 19 days, because I think they would look great with the dress.

Hey Divas,
Can you believe that I'm just getting back from DC and the first thing that I feel the urge to do is blog? Whenever I get home from a night of partying I browse the internet for at least an hour before I get my tush to bed.

Anywho, I mentioned two days ago that I received a surprise package from my mom in the mail. Well these are the two things that wonderful woman decided that I needed in my life...

After I received my brown boots from Avenue, I called my mom whining about the fit and how I would have to return them. It seems the next day she went out and bought these from Fashion Bug, taking advantage of the buy one get one for $10 sale. I'm so in love with these two items, the jacket is a little more dressy compared to my current leather jacket, and the brown boots (which are a richer brown than shown) go great with my dark blue jeans. I'm feening to wear them, but I'm sticking to this challenge. It doesn't help that when I took my BFF to F-Bug (after I received the package) I convinced her to get the same boots since they looked awesome on her. Now she's prancing around the house with them, being all happy and stuff, haha.

Oh, sidenote: Were you ladies aware that F-Bug and Lane Bryant (owned by the same people) carry a lot of the same items, but Lane Bryant's version is much more expensive?
